A Midsummer Night's Dream Photoshoot

“I know a bank where the wild thyme blows, where oxlips and the nodding violet grows. Canopied with luscious woodbine, with sweet musk, roses, and with eglantine, there sleeps Titania sometime of the night, lull’d in these flowers with dances and delight.” -a midsummer night's dream

So excited to finally share the photos from my Midsummer Night’s Dream inspired shoot! I wanted to create a dreamscape mash-up based loosely on the fairy realm from the classic Shakespeare tale, as well as vibes from the 1940’s Fantasia movie (specifically the scene with the centaur maidens). I wanted it to be lush, and dreamy, and fanciful, and just dripping in golden light and soft pastels and seeing this all come together just like in my head feels unreal.

We started the day dancing in sun-soaked meadows, and lounging in lush floral canopies, and ended the evening with a candlelit fae dinner party in the dark. As the sun dropped below the trees in the meadow, we took the mirror our fairies had been dancing around and transformed it into a lush tablescape of sweets and candle-lit delight.

My favorite part of all this was seeing how our photooshoot quickly escalated from posed photos into a genuine celebration of food, fellowship, and laughter— standing back in the darkness and just watching my fairies who all met as strangers just hours ago, basking in the presence of each other and enjoying all the delicate fruits + desserts after a day of creating just made my heart feel so full.

There was no doubt a magnetic pull seeing this scene from afar, off in the woods— with nothing but flickering golden candle light and laughter bubbling up from their silhouettes— an immediate invitation to drop everything, question nothing, and to come join the fae, feasting + dancing the night away. Would you?🧚‍♀️
